BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Holy Cross baseball team came up short against Lehigh on Sunday, May 1, falling by a score of 17-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A two-run single gave Lehigh a two-run lead in the bottom of the first.
- The Crusaders got a run back in the top of the second after freshman center fielder Tyler Mudd drove in sophomore right fielder Jake McElroy with a single to center.
- However, Lehigh answered with four runs in the bottom of the second and four more in the bottom of the third to jump ahead 10-1.
- An RBI groundout in the top of the fifth gave Holy Cross another run, and senior first baseman Nate Wolf doubled down the right field line to bring the Crusaders within 10-3.
- The Mountain Hawks' offense exploded for a seven-run sixth to extend their lead to 17-3.
- Senior catcher Angelo D'Acunto had a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, and freshman second baseman Connor Peek singled up the middle to make it a 17-5 game.
- McElroy led off the ninth with a double, and D'Acunto hit a one-out double to give the Crusaders another run.

- Holy Cross hosts Merrimack on Tuesday, May 3.
- First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
