HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Holy Cross put up three runs in the first inning. Freshman third baseman Nick Wang drew a one-out walk, and back-to-back singles bounced into the outfield for freshman designated hitter Sean Scanlon and freshman left fielder Connor Cooney, with Cooney's hit to right driving home Wang. Freshman first baseman Brendan Jones drew a bases-loaded walk, and Scanlon later came home on a fielder's choice to make it a 3-0 game.
- Center fielder Cameron Pittman led off the bottom of the first with a home run to cut into the Holy Cross advantage, but Scanlon – also the game's starting pitcher – did not let any more runs across in the opening frame.
- Sophomore shortstop Sam Kirkpatrick hit a two-out single in the second, and came home after Wang doubled to right field, giving the Crusaders a 4-1 edge.
- Freshman second baseman Connor Peek led off the fourth with a walk, and moved to second after a sacrifice bunt by freshman center fielder Tyler Mudd. Wang later had a two-out single that drove in Peek for his second RBI of the day.
- Radford had runners on second and third with one out in the fourth, but senior catcher Angelo D'Acunto picked off the runner at third for the second out of the frame. Ty Dooley tripled to drive in the runner at second, however, and an error then scored Dooley, making it a 5-3 game. The Highlanders went on to tack on four more runs in the frame to take a 7-5 lead through four.
- Radford continued to build its lead, taking a 9-5 advantage by the fifth and using an RBI double in the seventh to go up 10-5.
