The Holy Cross men's basketball team will play its second straight road game when it travels to Army West Point for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, Feb. 5. The game between the Crusaders and the Black Knights will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross currently has an overall record of 5-15 and an 3-5 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are on a two-game winning streak, with victories over Lehigh (67-65 on Jan. 28) and Boston University (75-70 on Jan. 31) in their last two contests. Holy Cross currently leads the Patriot League in blocked shots (4.2 blocks per game), while standing fourth in steals (6.4 steals per game).
Senior forward
Gerrale Gates has led the team by averaging 15.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, while hitting 75.7 percent of his foul shots. Freshman guard
Kyrell Luc has also been playing well, with averages of 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per contest. In addition, sophomore guard
Judson Martindale has averaged 9.7 points and 4.1 boards per game.
Army owns an overall record of 13-10 on the season with a 7-4 mark in Patriot League play and a 9-1 record at home. The Black Knights have dropped two of their last three games, including a 61-57 setback at Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday night. Sophomore guard Jalen Rucker has led Army by averaging 16.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game, while hitting 40.2 percent of his shots from three-point range. In addition, senior guard Josh Caldwell has put up 12.1 points, 4.9 boards, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals per contest.
After the contest with Army, Holy Cross will travel to Colgate for a 6:00 p.m. game on Monday, Feb. 7.
