WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men's basketball coach 
Brett Nelson has announced that 
Joe Nugent (Berkley, Mass.) has signed a national letter of intent to join the Crusaders in the fall of 2023. 
"We are excited to have Joe Nugent join our program," said Nelson. "He is a versatile player who brings a great level of toughness and a high basketball IQ. He will be able to come in and immediately impact our team with his ability to shoot the basketball. Adding a player of his caliber will make a huge difference for our program in the years ahead."
Nugent is a 6-foot-6, 220-pound guard / forward who currently plays for head coach Coke Whitworth at Tabor Academy in Marion, Mass. During his junior season, Nugent averaged 22.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest, while earning first team All-New England Preparatory School Athletic Council and first team All-Independent School League honors. He previously played for Somerset Berkley Regional High School, averaging 23.6 points per game as a sophomore. Nugent also plays for head coach Mike Crotty with the Middlesex Magic, helping lead the team to an 18-3 mark in the Under Armour Association and a 34-4 overall record in the spring and summer of 2022.
Holy Cross is currently in its fourth season under Nelson. The Crusaders play their next game on Thursday, Nov. 10, against Dean at 7:00 p.m.
