OMAHA, Neb. – Junior guard Bo Montgomery tied his career high with 21 points, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by No. 10 Creighton 94-65 at the CHI Health Center. The Crusaders fall to 1-2 overall, while the Blue Jays improve to 3-0 on the year.

Holy Cross made just 40.3 percent of its field goal attempts on the night, but was able to knock down 47.1 percent of its three-pointers and 70.0 percent of its free throws. Creighton hit 57.8 percent of its shots from the floor and 37.5 percent of its attempts from beyond the three-point line, while holding a 42-27 rebounding advantage.

The Blue Jays opened the game by scoring the first eight points, and were later up by 10 (26-16) with 8:55 remaining before the break. Creighton then went on a 15-5 run to increase its lead to 20 (41-21), and eventually took a 52-27 advantage into the locker room. The Blue Jays went up by as many as 34 (69-35) early in the second half, before the Crusaders responded with a 7-0 run to make the score 69-42. Holy Cross would trim the deficit down to 24 points (84-60) with 4:22 to go, before Creighton went on to post a 29-point victory.

Senior forward Gerrale Gates finished the game with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists, while junior guard Nolan Dorsey added eight points, four rebounds and four assists. The Blue Jays were led by Ryan Kalkbrenner with 22 points.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Nov. 19, when they face Stonehill at 7:30 p.m. in the Bronx, N.Y. in their opening game of the Tom Konchalski Classic.
