Senior kicker Derek Ng of the No. 9 Holy Cross football team has been named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, Oct. 3. He is now a nine-time Patriot League weekly honoree, having earned selections three times this season.

Ng made three field goals and was 3-for-3 on PATs as Holy Cross defeated Harvard, 30-21, on Saturday. Two of his field goals came in the fourth quarter – including a 49-yarder with 1:24 to go – to give the Crusaders late breathing room.

With 12 total points scored, Ng surpassed Gordie Lockbaum and Joe Segreti's career record for career points; his total of 271 career points passes Lockbaum and Segreti's 264 points.

Ng's 49-yard field goal ties his own mark for the third-longest field goal in program history. He also owns the three longest field goals in Holy Cross history, at 51, 50 and 49 yards. Ng's performance helped lift the Crusaders to their first 5-0 start since the 1991 season, and their first win at Harvard Stadium since 2000.

The undefeated Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Oct. 8 at the second annual EBW Classic at Polar Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by visiting polarpark.com/ebwclassic.
