PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Holy Cross women's rowing team had six boats take part in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on the Schuylkill River.

The Crusaders finished in fifth place in the championship eight race with a time of 13:11.123, while coming in sixth in the championship four in a time of 14:28.325. Holy Cross also placed sixth in the championship pair (16:36.921), ninth in the novice eight (15:16.069), ninth in the novice four (16:36.824) and 23rd in the club championship eight (14:05.459).

"We had a great showing at the Head of the Schuylkill highlighted by the championship four placing sixth of 52 and the championship eight placing fifth of 10 among very strong competition," said head coach Andrea Landry. "It was great to see all six of our entries executing what's been focused on at practice all fall.

"The second varsity eight raced in an exceptionally large club championship eight event, placing in the top half while also closing their margin on our varsity eight now less than 60 seconds.

"Our first year rowers raced in their inaugural competition this weekend in the novice eight and novice four with two top 10 finishes. This group is contributing to the depth of the program in a big way this fall and we look forward to watching them develop this year.

"We concluded our fall season on a high note, and the women are motivated to train hard over winter break. We'll be right back here in Philadelphia on the Schuylkill in 2023 when we kick off our first spring race at the Jesuit Invitational in March."

Holy Cross has now concluded the spring portion of its season and will return to action in the spring of 2022.
