WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team was shut out by Hockey East opponent New Hampshire 2-0. The Crusaders fall to 2-6-1 and 1-4-0 in Hockey East standings while the Wildcats improve to 3-7-0 (2-5-0 Hockey East).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• The Wildcats opened the scoring late in the first period with a goal from Rae Brenton. Brenton took a shot that went wide off the glass. The shot then deflected off the shoulder of goalie Madison Beck and another Holy Cross skater and fell into the net.
• New Hampshire scored another goal halfway through the second to increase their lead.
• Each team received multiple penalties but were unable to turn the 5-on-4 advantage into points. The Crusaders' penalty kill percentage increased to 86% after successfully killing four New Hampshire power plays.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• The Crusaders were outshot 23-13.
• The faceoff battle remained even throughout the night, ending 28-27 in favor of Holy Cross.
• Junior goaltender Madison Beck tallied 21 saves on the night. After six starts, she averages 2.59 goals-against with a save percentage of .924. 

UP NEXT: 

• Holy Cross returns to action Saturday, Oct. 29 as they travel to Durham, for the second game of the weekend series against New Hampshire. Puck drop is slated for 2 p.m.
