 HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • A senior Halle Carter skip set kill pulled the Crusaders within two, 6-4. A block on the right pin by sophomores Lauren Halverson and Mia Hofacker leveled the margin at 9-9. A 6-2 Navy spurt moved the Midshipmen in front 15-11 at the media timeout. Following the stoppage, Carter set up freshman Rachel Johnson for a kill making it a three point set, 15-12. From that point, the Mids outscored the Crusaders 10-3 for the set victory.
  • Hofacker evened the score 5-5 in the second set with a lefty mash. Ahead 10-8, Navy strung together five straight which increased the margin to 15-8. After the media timeout, sophomore Abbie Lane dropped in a kill from the back row to make it 15-9. Navy won the set 25-16.
  • Johnson started the third set off with a kill towards the back line for the 1-0 lead. A dual block by junior Sanaea Simmons and senior Gracyn Benck with two straight attack errors expanded the Holy Cross lead to 7-4. Two Johnson kills kept the Crusaders in front by three. A trio of Navy kills knotted the set at 12-12. The Crusaders stayed within one and two points until Navy posted a four point edge 23-19 late.
