WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross was swept 3-0 by the defending Patriot League champions, Colgate in a Sunday matinee volleyball contest at Coach George Blaney '61 Gymnasium.
The win keeps the Red Raiders undefeated in league play (6-0) and moves them to 13-3 overall while the Crusaders dropped to 2-15, 0-6 PL.

- Red Raiders 3, Crusaders 0 (10-25, 19-25, 17-25)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A Crusader ball handing error doubled up the margin, 8-4 in favor of the guests in the first set. A senior Gracyn Benck kill set up by classmate Emma VanSeveren pulled the Crusaders within three, 10-7. From there, Colgate outscored the Crusaders 15-3 for the first set victory.
- Colgate tallied a service error to push the hosts in front 4-3 in the early stages of the second set. A Red Raider dual block gained a two point lead for Colgate at 7-5. Their lead grew to five via a Crusader attack error. Gillian Hauschild increased the score to 18-12. Sophomore Lauren Halverson smashed a ball from the middle to bring Holy Cross within four, 20-16. Colgate eventually won the set 25-19 to take a 2-0 match lead.
- Back-to-back aces off the serve of Cami Carfino moved Colgate ahead 4-0 early. Benck and sophomore Rian Millership teamed up for a block pulling Holy Cross within one, 10-9. Freshman Gracie Reisman tied the set 12-12 powering a kill at the pin. From there, a 7-1 mini binge from Colgate gave them a 19-13 edge before a 25-17 third set win.
INSIDE THE BOX:
- Colgate hit .385 in the match hitting no lower than .370 in each set.
- Three Red Raiders hit over .400.
- Freshman Gracie Reisman set a new career-high with four total blocks.
UP NEXT:
- The Crusaders end their three game homestand on Friday, October 7 against American at 6 p.m.
