WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team fell to American International College, 2-0, on Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Hart Center Rink.
Senior
Erik Gordon made 25 saves for Holy Cross (5-14-1, 3-7-1 AHA), while senior captain
Matt Slick blocked five shots for the Crusaders.
For AIC (7-9-1, 7-4-0 AHA), goalie Jake Kucharski stopped all 21 shots he faced for the shutout win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Yellow Jackets got on the board first at 17:17 of the opening period, with Chris Theodore scoring his fourth goal of the season.
- After a scoreless second period and opening to the third period, the Crusaders had a power-play opportunity with under nine minutes to go in the final frame, but were unable to convert.
- AIC got an insurance goal with three minutes remaining, with Eric Otto's first goal of the season making it a 2-0 game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Slick's five blocks were a career high.
