Crusaders, Leopards set for defensive rock fight Wednesday night

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's basketball program closes their three game homestand on Wednesday hosting Patriot League foe Lafayette at 6:00 p.m. in the Hart Center Arena. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (10-6, 4-1 PL): 
  • The Crusaders closed out their last opponent Loyola (Md.) using a 20-0 run in a 63-48 win Monday evening. Four players reached double-digits in the win including seniors Madison Demski (12) and Oluchi Ezemma (12).
  • Avery LaBarbera produced her ninth double-double of the season which ranks tied for 13th in the NCAA. The senior guard scored 10 points and snared 12 boards and dished out six assists for good measure in the Holy Cross win.
  • Holy Cross takes pride in their defensive performance. In conference contests, they lead the league in points against (55.1), are first in opponent three-point percentage (25.2%), and second in opponent field goal percentage (36.5%).
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS (7-7, 3-1 PL): 
  • Lafayette, winners of six of their last eight, head to Worcester following a 62-56 loss to Army on Saturday. Jessica Booth put home a team-high 16 points and came away with four steals. Naomi Ganpo was one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.
  • The Leopards has one of the stingiest defenses in the Patriot League. They rank first in the conference in opponent field goal percentage (35.9%) and third in scoring defense (57.8).
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross holds a 61-12 (.835) advantage in the series between the two programs which began in 1986.
  • The two programs last met in the 2019-2020 Patriot League quarterfinals as the no. 4 seeded Crusaders beat the no. 5 Leopards 52-33. Then-senior Lauren Manis double-doubled with a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds while then-sophomore Avery LaBarbera hit three triples in an 11 point effort.
