Women's hockey returns home to face Vermont

The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team will host the University of Vermont on Monday, Jan. 17 and Tuesday, Jan. 18 at the Hart Center Rink. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m. both days.

Things To Know About The Crusaders (3-16-0, 1-13-0 Hockey East):
  • Holy Cross most recently fell to Maine in a pair of contests on Jan. 10 and 11. The Black Bears earned a 2-1 win in the series opener before defeating the Crusaders, 4-1, on the 11th.
  • Senior captain Carlie Magier scored a power-play goal on the 10th, and senior goaltender Jada Brenon made 44 saves in that contest.
  • Senior defenseman Emma Lange appeared in her 100th career contest for the Crusaders on the 11th, scoring a goal in that appearance.
  • Junior forward Darci Johal had a pair of assists on the weekend. She now leads the team with eight points this season.
  • This will mark Holy Cross' first time playing at home since Dec. 10. The Crusaders are scheduled to play six of their next seven contests at home.
Things To Know About The Catamounts (11-9-2, 8-6-1 Hockey East):
  • Vermont most recently played the University of Connecticut on Jan. 7 and 8, splitting the series with a 5-1 loss and a 6-2 victory.
  • Seven different Catamounts had a multi-point game in the 6-2 win.
  • Maude Poulin-Labelle leads Vermont this year with 20 points on the season, including a team-best 13 assists on the season.
  • Theresa Schafzal has a team-leading 10 goals this year.
  • Vermont's power play ranks second in Hockey East, at 19 percent conversion rate. The Catamounts' penalty kill, operating at a 90.6 percent success rate, is also second-best in the league. ­
Last Time They Met:
  • Holy Cross traveled to Burlington, Vermont, to play the Catamounts on Oct. 22. Vermont took a 4-2 victory over the Crusaders.
  • The Catamounts took a 3-0 lead by the midway point of the second, but sophomore forward Millie Sirum and Johal each scored to bring Holy Cross within 3-2 halfway through the third. Vermont added an insurance goal with seven minutes remaining to secure the 4-2 win.
