WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior midfielder
Jack Ostrosky scored the only goal of the night to lead the Holy Cross men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over UMass Lowell at Linda Johnson Smith Stadium. The Crusaders improve to 3-0-1 on the season with the win, while the River Hawks fall to 1-2-1 overall.
In the 21st minute, junior defender
Taj Salawu played the ball from the center of the field to freshman defender
Connor Bagdon in the right side of the penalty box. Bagdon then crossed the ball into the center of the box, where Ostrosky headed it into the lower left corner of the net for a goal from eight yards out.

Jimmy Joyce led a strong defensive effort with four saves while posting his second straight shutout.
The River Hawks outshot the Crusaders 17-4 on the night, in addition to holding a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 11, when it travels to Iona for a 1:00 p.m. game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Ostrosky's goal was his second of the season and his second game winner in the last three contests.
• Joyce has now played 224 straight minutes without allowing a goal.
• The Crusaders' 3-0-1 start to the season is their best since opening up the 2002 campaign at 7-0-1.
