Dylan Scanley and freshman forward
Jon Klein both tallied a goal and an assist as the Holy Cross men's soccer team posted a 3-1 victory over Colgate at Linda Johnson Smith Stadium. The Crusaders improve to 6-2-2 overall and 3-0-0 in the Patriot League with the win, while the Raiders fall to 0-9-0 on the year and 0-3-0 in the conference.
Holy Cross opened the scoring in the second minute of play, when Scanley played the ball to freshman forward
Evan Jones in the top of the box, where he booted it past the goalkeeper from 12 yards out in the left center. Colgate tied the score at 1-1 in the 19th minute, as Max Edelstein knocked home a rebound after a shot by Aidan Davock was saved.
The Crusaders regained the lead in the 60th minute, as freshman midfielder
Ivor Teagle headed the ball to Klein at the top left side of the box, where he fired a shot into the lower right corner of the goal. Less than two minutes later, Scanley scored from just inside the top of the box after a shot by Klein was deflected to him.

Jimmy Joyce recorded three saves on the night, while Nick Gerlach had two saves for the Raiders.
Holy Cross finished the game with a 12-9 advantage in shots, while Colgate held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Oct. 2, when they travel to Navy for a 12:00 p.m. game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Holy Cross' 3-0-0 start in Patriot League is its best since the 2002 season. The Crusaders have not opened conference action at 4-0-0 since 1995.
• Jones' goal was his fourth this year, which leads the team.
• Scanley now ranks second on the squad with three goals scored this season.
