WORCESTER, Mass.— Behind a career five-point day from sophomore
Sarah Potter, the Holy Cross field hockey team defeated Merrimack, 5-2, and gave head coach
Lindsay Jackson her 100th career head coaching victory. The Crusaders are now 3-0 at home and 4-4 overall, while the Warriors drop to 0-8 on the season.
Jackson is in her seventh year at the helm of the Crusaders and has now claimed 39 wins. Jackson's other 61 victories while a head coach came at Limestone College.
Several Crusaders had career days in the victory over Merrimack. Potter had a career-high two goals and her first-ever assist for a career-high five points. Freshman
Molly Vinton scored her first career goal as a Crusader, while classmate
Meggan Fourie posted a career-high three points off one goal and one assist. Additionally, junior
Sinead Walsh tallied a career-high four points on one goal and two assists.
Fourie got the scoring started for the Crusaders with the opening goal, just over a minute into the second quarter.
Allie McDonough posted an assist on Fourie's goal. The 1-0 scoreline would hold until Walsh potted her goal in the third quarter, with Potter claiming her lone assist of the day.
Merrimack was able to cut the deficit to 2-1 behind Cate Bueckers goal. The Crusaders then erupted for three goals in the fourth quarter with Potter scoring twice and Vinton adding another, while Merrimack slotted in their second goal of the day in-between Potter and Vinton.

Emma Lauber and sophomore
Brooke Ross each played a half for the Crusaders. Lauber made one save, while Ross posted two on the day.
