Crusaders fall at Northeastern

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Junior midfielder Bergin Kranz scored his second goal of the season, but the Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Northeastern 3-1 at Parsons Field. The Crusaders fall to 4-2-2 overall, while the Huskies improve to 6-1-1 on the year.

Northeastern opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Federico Telles scored on a direct free kick from outside the top right side of the box. The Huskies then increased their lead to 2-0 in the ninth minute as Soren Ilsoe scored from 10 yards out on the right side. 

Before the first half was over, Northeastern made it a 3-0 game in the 44th minute when a shot was deflected to Ryan Massoud, who scored from five yards out in the center of the box. Holy Cross was able to get on the board in the 78th minute when Kranz scored with assists from freshman forward Evan Jones and freshman midfielder Jake Williams.

The Crusaders finished the night with a 13-9 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 25, when it travels to Loyola (Md.) for a 12:00 p.m. game.
