KINGSTON, R.I.— The Holy Cross volleyball team fell at Rhode Island, 3-0, in the Crusaders final match at the Art Carmichael Invitational hosted by URI in Keaney Gymnasium.
The Crusaders move to 0-3 on the season, while the Rams move to 2-0.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After falling down 14-7 in the first set, the Crusaders battled back and evened the score at 15-15. The Rams closed out the set with a 25-21 victory to take a 1-0 lead.
- Set two was tight from the get-go, with the score knotting up at 12-12. Rhode Island then used two four-point runs to eventually claim the 25-15 victory and 2-0 lead in the match.
- In the final set, Holy Cross jumped out to a 7-1 lead before Rhode Island tied the set at 12-12. In a back-and-forth final set, the Rams ultimately won 25-23 and 3-0 overall.
