Men's hockey announces 2021-22 schedule

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross men's ice hockey has announced its schedule for the 2021-22 season. The Crusaders are scheduled to play a 35-game slate that begins with the Ice Breaker Tournament hosted at the Hart Center on Oct. 8-9.

This year's schedule features a number of non-conference opponents that consistently find themselves included in the national rankings. Kicking things off are Northeastern and Boston College in the Ice Breaker Tournament. Holy Cross will also travel to head coach Bill Riga's previous team Quinnipiac (Oct. 26) and to Notre Dame for a two-game set (Nov. 4-5).

Additionally, the Crusaders will take on three other Hockey East opponents when they host Merrimack (Nov. 23) and Vermont (Jan. 4), and travel to New Hampshire (Nov. 27). Rounding out the non-conference slate is a home matchup with Brown (Nov. 26).

Unlike last season, the 2021-22 schedule will feature a full complement of Atlantic Hockey opponents with conference play beginning at Mercyhurst (Oct 15-16). The Crusaders will then return home for a home-and-home with Bentley (Oct. 21-22) and another series with Mercyhurst (Nov. 12-13). The first half of the schedule is wrapped up with a trip to RIT (Nov. 19-20) and home series with Niagara (Dec. 3-4).

Holy Cross opens conference play in 2022 with back-to-back home series against AIC (Jan. 7-8) and Canisius (Jan. 14-15) before hitting the road for two-straight away series at Army (Jan. 21-22) and AIC (Jan. 28-29).

The tail end of the schedule will see the Crusaders host Sacred Heart (Feb. 4-5), travel to Air Force (Feb. 11-12), take on Army (Feb. 18-19) in Worcester, and finish things out with another home-and-home with Bentley (Feb. 25-26). The Atlantic Hockey Tournament will begin on March 4 and culminate with the championship weekend on March 18-19.
