BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Holy Cross softball team lost two games to Lehigh Sunday afternoon. The Crusaders played as the designated home team as both of the day's games were originally scheduled to be played in Worcester on April 10.
Bella Jankowski had two hits on the day for Holy Cross, as well as one RBI, two stolen bases, and was hit by a pitch.
Jessica Mott had one hit, one walk, one stolen base, and scored once.
In the circle,
Megan Yurchick came on in relief in game one, going the final three innings without giving up an earned run and striking out five. She got the start in game two, went the distance allowing zero runs and just one hit through the first five innings. In the end, she allowed five runs and struck out two. Yurchick also had a single at the plate.
Kelly Nelson started game one and allowed six runs while striking out five.
GAME 1: LEHIGH 7, HC 2
The Mountain Hawks got on the board first in the top half of the first after a single, a stolen base, and another single to take a 1-0 lead. In the bottom half, the Crusaders would answer back after both
Bailey Chavez and Mott reached on errors. Chavez came home on a sac bunt by
Erin Bengston and Mott on a Jankowski single to center to give the Crusaders a 2-1 lead.
After a quiet second inning from both sides, Lehigh regained the lead in the third to go up 4-2. The Mountain Hawks would add two more in the fifth and one in the seventh to claim the 7-2 victory.
GAME 2: LEHIGH 5, HC 0
Game two was scoreless until the sixth inning, as both Yurchick and Lehigh starter Katelyn Young put up strong showings. Through five innings, Yurchick had only allowed one hit, while Young had given up three.
The Mountain Hawks plated two in the sixth after a four-hit inning and added three insurance runs in the seventh. The Crusaders would get a runner to second in the bottom half after Mott drew a leadoff walk, but they would go no further as the game ended at 5-0.

Holy Cross' final regular season games of the season will be a four-game Patriot League series against Army next Saturday and Sunday, May 8 and 9.
