Senior running back Peter Oliver of the Holy Cross football team has been named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Wednesday, Nov. 24. In addition to Oliver, junior linebacker Jacob Dobbs and senior linebacker Liam Anderson were named Academic All-Patriot League selections.

Oliver owns a 3.95 grade-point average; he is a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection and a 2021 William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist. An All-Patriot League first team selection for the 2021 season, Oliver is now a two-time All-Patriot League selection. He led the Patriot League in rushing yards, averaging 72.6 yards per game, while averaging 5.4 yards per carry and scoring four touchdowns.

He is one of 14 three-time Academic All-Patriot League selections in Patriot League history. Oliver is the third Crusader in history to be named the Patriot League's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for football, joining Ryan McGuire (2008) and Jake Wieczorek (2016).

Dobbs, who was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday, Nov. 23, earns his first Academic All-League honor. He owns a 3.68 GPA as an economics major. Dobbs, who was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection this season, was additionally named a finalist for the 2021 Buck Buchanan Award, presented to the top defensive player in FCS. This year, he has recorded 112 total tackles, 15.0 tackles for loss and eight sacks, along with six quarterback hurries and three pass breakups.

Anderson was also named to the Academic All-Patriot League team for the first time in his career. An economics major, Anderson also earned a spot on the All-Patriot League first team for the first time in his career; this season, he totaled 67 tackles, along with 13.5 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, three interceptions, two pass breakups, four quarterback hurries and a forced fumble.

The Patriot League Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League Teams honors student-athletes who excel on and off the field. The awards are nominated and voted on by the Patriot League football sports information directors. To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshman or student-athletes in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
