Holy Cross set for Tuesday tilt with Merrimack

WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross men's hockey team will host the Merrimack Warriors in non-conference action on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at Hart Center Rink.

The game will stream live on FloHockey.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (2-10-1, 2-5-1 AHA):
  • Holy Cross will return to non-conference action against Merrimack after most recently dropping a two-game series to Atlantic Hockey foe RIT. The Crusaders dropped both games to the Tigers by just one goal, falling 3-2 in game one and 4-3 in game two.
  • Junior Nick Hale is riding a four-game point streak and has recorded two assists in each of his past three games. Hale has 12 points off two goals and 10 assists this season, his 10 assists are tied to lead Atlantic Hockey. He is the first Crusader defenseman since Johnny Coughlin and Spencer Trapp in the 2018-19 season to record double-digit assists in a season. Earlier this season, Hale was named the Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
  • Senior Ryan Leibold and Hale are tied to lead the Crusaders and sit tied for second in Atlantic Hockey with 12 points this season.
  • Leibold is also tied for the team lead in goals (5) with junior Grayson Constable. Leibold and Constable have each set new career-highs in goals.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS (5-7-0, 3-6-0 HEA):
  • When the Warriors come to town, the Crusaders will be facing their third Hockey East opponent this season, after seeing Northeastern and Boston College at the Ice Breaker Tournament.
  • Merrimack most recently split a two-game series with Maine, falling in the first game 6-5 in overtime and winning game two, 2-0.
  • At the dot, Merrimack ranks seventh in the country and second in Hockey East with a 54.2 percent success rate on faceoffs.
  • Amongst common opponents, the Warriors defeated then-No. 14/15 Boston College earlier this season, 4-3.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • The Crusaders and Warriors last met during the 2019-20 season with Merrimack winning, 3-1. Then-freshman Matt Radomsky made 24 saves against the Warriors.
  • The last Crusader win in the series came on Oct. 24, 2006, 2-1.
