Carlie Magier will captain the 2020-2021 iteration of Holy Cross women's hockey, as announced by the team's head coach
Katie Lachapelle.
"We are incredibly excited to announce Antonia, Julia, and Carlie as our captains for the upcoming season," Lachapelle said. "They are highly respected by their teammates and have the trust of our entire coaching staff to continue to lead this program in the right direction."
Matzka will reprise her role as captain after serving as one of the team's leaders this season as a junior. The defenseman scored three goals and recorded five assists for eight points on the year. She played in all of the squad's 33 games and scored the game-winning goal in a 4-3 win at Merrimack on Nov. 15. After three seasons in Worcester, Matzka has accumulated eight goals and 24 assists for 32 points.
Pelletier played between the pipes in nine games for the Crusaders during her junior campaign. She picked up the win in a 2-0 victory over Vermont on Feb. 16, earning her first Hockey East shutout. In her career, the Pellham, N.H. native has posted seven wins and a .891 save percentage.
Magier, the lone junior captain, was second on the team this season with 10 points. She shared the team lead of five goals, picking up the game winner in a 2-1 victory over Vermont on Feb. 15. After the first two seasons of her collegiate career, Magier has recorded 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points.
From year one to year two in Hockey East, the Crusaders moved up a spot in the final standings, as well as picked up an additional four wins and one tie in conference action.
