WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's basketball team will begin Patriot League Tournament action when it plays at Bucknell in the first round on Tuesday, March 3, at 7:00 p.m. The contest between Crusaders and the Bison will be shown live on the Patriot League Network, and can be heard on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
Holy Cross stands 3-28 overall this year with a 2-16 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders have lost 11 straight games since posting a 96-95 overtime victory over Lehigh on Jan. 22.
Freshman forward
Joe Pridgen has led the team by averaging 17.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, while hitting 55.2 percent of his field goal attempts. Junior guard
Austin Butler has added 12.0 points, 6.3 boards and 2.5 assists per contest, while junior forward
Connor Niego is chipping in with 8.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
Bucknell stands 12-19 overall this year with an 8-10 mark in Patriot League play. The Bison have lost two of their last three games, including a 74-71 setback at Boston University on Saturday.
Junior guard Jimmy Sotos has led the team by averaging 11.7 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game, while hitting 83.5 percent of his foul shots. Junior forward John Meeks (11.6 points per game), sophomore guard Andrew Funk (11.0 points per game) and senior guard Avi Toomer (10.6 points per game) are also scoring in double figures for the Bison.
The winner of the Holy Cross-Bucknell game will move on to the Patriot League quarterfinals, where it will play at American on Thursday, March 5, at 7:00 p.m.
