Men’s hockey edged by #11/9 Arizona State in overtime, 3-2

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team fell in overtime to #11/9 Arizona State, 3-2. After the Crusaders posted a two-goal second period to erase a 1-0 deficit, the Sun Devils evened up the score to send the game to overtime. Of the four ranked opponents Holy Cross has faced in the 2019-20 season, the team has taken three to overtime for a 1-1-1 record.

The Sun Devils jumped to a 1-0 lead on a tip in goal nearly seven minutes into the opening period. Matt Radomsky started his 25th game and turned aside five shots in the period. The Crusaders held their own as they recorded 19 shots on frame but were unable to get on the board through 20 minutes.

The second period was all Holy Cross as Kevin Darrar set up two goals. The Crusaders scored two goals within three minutes, both times assisted by Darrar. First, Ferguson evened the score seven into the frame. Then, on a four-on-four, Robinson tallied the go-ahead goal, 2-1. Holy Cross again held the shot advantage, 11-10.

Arizona State opened the third period with a goal to even up the game at 2-2. The Sun Devils held a 7-3 shot advantage despite the Crusaders having the final chance in regulation. Overtime went to a 5-0 shot advantage for Arizona State and the team scored with under two minutes to play.
