Connor Niego totaled 12 points and seven rebounds, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by American 90-47 at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders finish the regular season at 3-28 overall and 2-16 in the Patriot League, while the Eagles improve to 16-13 on the year and 12-6 in the conference.
Holy Cross hit just 28.0 percent of its field goal attempts and 11.8 percent of its three-pointers on the afternoon. American was able to connect on 51.6 percent of its shots from the floor and 55.6 percent of its attempts from three-point range, while holding a 41-32 rebounding advantage.Â
The Eagles opened the game by jumping out to an early 16-2 lead after the first 6:32 of action. American increased the margin to 30 points (43-13) late in the half, before taking a 43-16 advantage into the locker room. The Crusaders would get no closer than 24 points in the second half, with the Eagles pulling away for the victory.
Mark Gasperini led American with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Jamir Harris added 13 points, four boards and three assists.

Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, March 3, when it travels to Bucknell in the opening round of the Patriot League Tournament.
