Joe Pridgen totaled 25 points, nine rebounds and five assists, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Colgate 90-60 at Cotterell Court. The Crusaders fall to to 3-26 on the season and 2-14 in the Patriot League with the loss, while the Raiders improve to 22-7 overall and 13-3 in the conference.
Holy Cross made just 37.1 percent of their field goal attempts, 22.7 percent of their three-pointers and 52.9 percent of their free throws on the afternoon. Colgate was able to connect on 52.4 percent of its shots from the floor and 82.4 percent of its attempts at the charity stripe, while holding a 42-32 rebounding advantage.
The Raiders starting the game hot, jumping out to a quick 15-2 lead after the first 7:15 of action. Colgate would lead by as many as 15 points late in the half, before taking a 39-29 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The Raiders then maintained a double-digit lead for the entire second half, eventually closing the game with a 14-4 spurt over the final 3:47 to win by 30.
Junior guard
Austin Butler finished the day with 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Jordan Burns led Colgate with 23 points and four assists.
Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 26, when it travels to Army West Point for a 7:00 p.m. game.
