Women's basketball set for Senior Day vs. Colgate

The Holy Cross women's basketball team will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 22 when the Crusaders host Colgate at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.

Saturday's game will be televised on NESNplus with John Avino and Dan McLoughlin on the call.

Things to Know About the Crusaders (15-10, 8-6):
  • Prior to tipoff, Holy Cross will recognize the five members of its senior class: center Megan Swords, guard Madalyn Smith, guard Kathryn Pedi, guard Nicole Morris and forward Lauren Manis.
  • After back-to-back wins, Holy Cross fell to Patriot League-leading Bucknell on the road by a score of 63-45 on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
  • The Crusaders received a balanced scoring effort, led by Manis, who had 14 points and seven rebounds. Morris had a season-high eight points in 21 minutes, including a pair of 3-pointers – matching a career high – and sophomore Avery LaBarbera added in eight points.
  • Swords had seven points, five rebounds and three steals, while sophomore Oluchi Ezemma had six points to go with six rebounds.
  • With an 8-6 record in conference play, the Crusaders currently sit in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Patriot League, trailing Bucknell (12-2), Colgate (10-4) and Boston University (10-4).  
  • Holy Cross is 8-2 at the Hart Center this season.
 
Things to Know About the Raiders (18-7, 10-4):
  • Colgate most recently took a road victory at Lehigh on Wednesday, winning 82-73.
  • Rachel Thompson had a strong performance for the Raiders, tallying 33 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Three others were in double figures: Haley Greer (11 points), Taylor Langan (10 points) and Alexa Brodie (10 points).
  • The Raiders boast the league's top offense, with Colgate averaging 69.1 points per game and leading the conference with a .440 field goal percentage.
  • Thompson has been one of the league's top players this season, ranking in the top five in the conference in assists (first, 125), assist-to-turnover ratio (first, 2.4),free throw percentage (first, .817), points per game (second, 17.0), steals (second, 62), rebounds per game (fourth, 8.2) and field goal percentage (fourth, .515).
Last Time They Met:
  • The Crusaders couldn't overcome a slow start, falling to the Raiders on the road by a score of 71-60 on Feb. 1.
  • Holy Cross trailed 14-4 after the first quarter, and though the Crusaders cut within 26-24 at the half, Colgate opened the third quarter on a 15-4 run and Holy Cross could not get past the deficit.
  • Swords had a strong game for Holy Cross, totaling 18 points and 11 rebounds. LaBarbera finished with 17 points and six rebounds.
