Magier's last-minute goal lifts women's hockey over Vermont

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team defeated Vermont, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center Rink. Carlie Magier's goal with a minute remaining lifted the Crusaders over the Catamounts for the first time in program history.

The contest entered the third period with the teams tied at one after each side lit the lamp once in the second period. Maggie Hallisey put Holy Cross ahead with feeds from Carly Beniek and Darci Johal. Vermont responded eight minutes later thanks to Eve-Audrey Picard.

The game was scoreless after the first frame, even though UVM outshot Holy Cross 14-2.

SCORING SUMMARY:
1-0 HC (2nd, 6:30, PP): Hallisey was in the right place at the right time as Beniek secured a rebound off the wall and fed it out in front to a waiting Hallisey.

2-1 HC (3rd, 18:49, EV): Kailey Langefels found a streaking Rachel Moore who was able to push the puck across the ice to Magier in the slot. The sophomore was just able to reach it to tap it home for the win.
