ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Holy Cross softball team lost two games at the Winthrop Softball Tournament Saturday. The Crusaders first fell to Virginia, 11-1, and followed it up with an 8-0 loss to host Winthrop.
Erin Bengston led Holy Cross going 2-for-4 on the day and recording her first RBI of the year in the game against Virginia.
Kaci Neveling and
Olivia Eckelman each had a hit on the day, both were their collegiate firsts. Neveling also stole her second base of the year.
Bailey Chavez and
Jessie Nagel each had a hit as well.
Bailey Bates walked once and scored a run.
In the circle,
Kelly Nelson got the start in game one and went five innings and struck out three. She made an appearance in relief of game two and went one inning and struck out two.
Peyton Morehouse drew her first collegiate start in the circle against Winthrop and tossed three innings, striking out four.
Audrey Gusel saw an inning of work on the day as well.
