Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's hockey hangs tough at UNH, but falls

DURHAM, N.H. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team lost to New Hampshire, 3-0, Friday evening at the Whittemore Center.

The three-goal deficit is misleading as the Crusaders were in the game for the lengthy majority, trailing just 1-0 for more than two and a half periods. The Wildcats would add a second goal after the halfway point in the final frame and then a third with Holy Cross' net empty.

Jada Brenon made 32 saves in goal for the Crusaders. Katie MacCuaig led all players in purple with four shots on goal, while Rachel Moore was next with three.

SCORING SUMMARY:
1-0 UNH (1st, 17:15, PP): Taylor Wenczkowski put the Wildcats up on the power play.
2-0 UNH (3rd, 12:02, EV): UNH's leading scorer Meghara McManus doubled the home team's lead with just under eight minutes remaining.
3-0 UNH (3rd, 19:04, EN): The Wildcats added an empty netter to wrap things up.

UP NEXT:
Holy Cross will host UNH tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1:05 p.m. back home at the Hart Center.
