WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's basketball team returns to the court to face Navy on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 2:00 p.m. as part of Winter Homecoming weekend. The contest between the Crusaders and the Terriers will be televised live on the New England Sports Network and the Patriot League Network, and can be heard on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
During the game, the Holy Cross coaching staff will take part in Coaches vs. Cancer Suits & Sneakers Week, a collaborative initiative of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society.
Holy Cross stands 3-17 overall this season with a 2-5 mark against Patriot League opponents. The Crusaders are coming off a 96-95 overtime victory over Lehigh on Wednesday night, which snapped a four-game losing streak.
Freshman forward
Joe Pridgen has led the team by averaging 16.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, while hitting 56.0 percent of his field goal attempts. Junior guard
Austin Butler has added 11.4 points, 6.6 boards and 2.4 assists per contest, while junior forward
Connor Niego is chipping in with 8.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
Boston University stands 10-10 overall this year with a 4-3 mark in Patriot League play. The Terriers have lost their last two games, including a 60-58 overtime setback against Navy on Wednesday.
Senior forward Max Mahoney has led the team by averaging 14.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while hitting 60.0 percent of his field goal attempts. Sophomore forward Walter Whyte has averaged 13.0 points and 7.0 boards per contest, with junior guard Javante McCoy putting up 10.4 points, 3.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Following the contest with Boston University, Holy Cross will hit the road to face Navy on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 7:00 p.m.
