WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's basketball team hits the road this weekend for a game at American on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 4:00 p.m. The contest between the Crusaders and the Eagles will be televised live by NBC Sports Washington and the Patriot League Network, and can be heard on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
Holy Cross stands 2-16 overall this season and is tied for eighth place in the Patriot League with a 1-4 mark in conference games. After defeating Navy 63-61 on Jan. 5, the Crusaders have dropped their last three games to Lafayette (82-64), Bucknell (75-60) and Army (79-67).
Freshman forward
Joe Pridgen has led the team by averaging 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while hitting 55.3 percent of his field goal attempts. Junior guard
Austin Butler has added 11.1 points, 6.8 boards and 2.4 assists per contest, while junior forward
Connor Niego is chipping in with 8.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
American stands 7-9 overall this year with a 3-2 mark in Patriot League play. The Eagles have won three of their last four games, including a 61-60 victory over Bucknell on Wednesday night.
Senior guard Sa'eed Nelson has led the team by averaging 15.7 points, 4.8 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game. Junior guard Jamir Harris has added 11.6 points and 2.8 boards per contest, while sophomore guard Jacob Boonyasith is putting up 9.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Following the contest with American, Holy Cross will return home to face Lehigh on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 7:00 p.m.
