BALTIMORE - The Holy Cross women's soccer team tied Loyola, 1-1, Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders move to 2-2-5 on the year and 0-0-2 in Patriot League action. The Greyhounds are now 4-5-1 and 1-0-1 in conference play.
Loyola got on the board first when in the 36th minute, a Crusader defender blocked a shot, but Sarah Bayer was about to collect the rebound and drive it in to take the lead.
Holy Cross would tie things up in the 50th minute when Kelly Crowley sent a long throw into the box that Carly Flahive headed straight up into the air. Samantha Peters was waiting for it when it came down and buried the header to pull the Crusaders back even.
The Greyhounds earned a penalty kick in the 89th minute, but diving to her right, Sophia Lettieri was able to come up with the save to keep the game tied and send it to overtime, where it would ultimately end in a draw.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The goal was the first of Peters' collegiate career.
- The Crusaders have now not been defeated in their last seven games, going 2-0-5 in that span.
