WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by Boston University, 23-14. Led by Jolie Creo and Bryn Carroll, each with four points in the game.
The Terriers (11-4, 6-1 PL) started the game with offensive control, tallying five goals before Holy Cross (4-10, 2-5 PL) was able to find the cage, when Maggie Moriarty fed Audrey Mandaro.
The Crusaders found the back of the net twice more in the first half when Shannon Dudeck and Bryn Carroll tallied goals. The Terriers held an 11-3 lead at the end of the first half.
Boston University outscored the Crusaders 12-11 in the second half as Holy Cross found its offense. At 26:34 the Crusaders started a three-goal run as Carroll, Izzy Grant, and Baker Earl scored.
Jolie Creo scored two goals in the second half to help Holy Cross close in on the Terrier lead. Grant completed her hat trick at 8:48 and put the Crusaders down, 18-13, their closest deficit of the game.
The Terriers continued to pressure offensively and outscored Holy Cross 5-1 in the final 7:43 minutes of play to win, 23-14.
CRUSADER LEADERS:
- Creo recorded four points from two goals and two assists.
- Two Crusaders led with two caused turnovers: Haley Walker and Izzy Grant.
- Juliana Kubler made six saves.
- Audrey Mandaro added one assist and one goal. The assist marked Mandaro's first of the season.
- Connors had 11 draw contols.
