LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior quarterback Connor Degenhardt threw for 276 yards and accounted for three touchdowns, to lead the Holy Cross football team to a 21-14 victory over Bucknell at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The Bison opened the scoring on a two-yard touchdown run by Chad Freshnock at the 14:55-mark of the second quarter, following a blocked punt. Bucknell increased its lead to 14-0 a few minutes later when Gerrit Van Itallie returned an interception 48 yards for a score.

The Crusaders responded with a 92-yard drive on their next possession, ending with a 33-yard touchdown pass from Degenhardt to senior tight end Derek Mountain. Holy Cross then tied the score at 14-14 late in the second quarter on a quarterback sneak by Degenhardt.

In the third quarter, senior defensive lineman Kevin Bucceroni blocked a field goal to give the Crusaders possession on their own 39-yard line. Degenhardt then hit sophomore wide receiver Spencer Gilliam for a 45-yard gain, setting up another Degenhardt quarterback sneak to put Holy Cross up 21-14. The Bison were able to reach the red zone once in the fourth quarter, but missed a field goal before the Crusaders ran out the clock.
