WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team tied Colgate, 0-0, Wednesday night at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The Crusaders move to 2-2-6 on the year and 0-0-3 in Patriot League play, as the Raiders shift to 1-6-3 and 0-1-2.
The contest was extremely even all night long, with both sides controlling play for stretches. The Crusaders held the slight advantage in possession, 55-45, but it was hard to tell during the game which side was winning that battle.
Neither team generated a true close-range, quality look on goal, with the majority of the night's shots coming from outside the 18, but a few long-range looks proved to be just as dangerous.
In the 56th and 58th minutes, Samantha Peters put a pair of shots on goal from just outside the corner of the penalty box, but Colgate's Kelly Chiavaro was able to get her hands on both, just poking the second over the crossbar. Cassie Cheeseman put pressure on the Raiders' left flank all night long, but wasn't able to secure that finishing touch.
Colgate was awarded a free kick from 20 yards out with a minute remaining in overtime, but Julia Lindsey's shot went wide.
