Box Score

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision Wednesday night to Boston University. With the Terriers' victory, BU claims the first point in the 2018-19 Turnpike Trophy standings. The loss brings Holy Cross to 3-7-0 on the year and 1-2-0 in conference play. BU improves to 3-8-2 and 2-0-1 in the conference.

The first twenty minutes of the game were evenly contested, with BU creating more offensive chances, but Holy Cross holding strong on defensive. In the 23rd minute, the Terriers got on the board by way of an Anna Heilferty unassisted goal. The game would go into halftime with BU up, 1-0.

The second half opened with some excitement when a misplayed ball left sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Lettieri one-on-one with a defender. Lettieri played the situation perfectly, aggressively came off her line to cut the shot off, to keep the score at 1-0.

BU would end up adding two more goals in the second half, another by Heilferty and one by McKenna Doyle to claim the 3-0 win. Heilferty was named MVP of Turnpike Trophy contest.

The Crusaders will be back in action this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they travel to Bucknell for another Patriot League matchup.
