WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to No. 9 Loyola Md., 13-5, at Kuzniewski Field on March 3.

Loyola (3-1, 2-0 Patriot League) took a 7-0 lead in the first 30 minutes of the game. Five goals came in the opening quarter and two goals in the second quarter for the Greyhounds. To kick off the second half, Holy Cross (1-4, 0-2 Patriot League) showed a flurry of offense with three goals in the first 2:45 of the third quarter. The Crusaders then allowed just one more Greyhound goal before the final quarter. In the final 15 minutes, the Greyhounds outscored the Crusaders, 5-2, to close the game 13-5.

Quarter 1 | HC 0 Loyola 5

  • Loyola started the scoring at 11:43 from Peter Swindell and added onto their lead at 11:26 from Pat Spencer.
  • Greyhound Kevin Lindley fired off three consecutive goals at 4:51, 3:41, and with two seconds to play in the quarter.

Quarter 2 | HC 0 Loyola 7

  • Lindley continued his scoring streak at 5:40 of the second quarter.
  • Spencer added his second of the day with three ticks remaining.

Quarter 3 | HC 3 Loyola 8

  • Holy Cross fired off three goals in the first three minutes of action in the second half.
  • At 14:16, Kevin Kodzis recorded his third of the season with an unassisted tally.
  • A little over 30 seconds later, Justin Lynskey sent in his fifth of the season at 13:42.
  • Sean Mullaney capped off the Holy Cross offensive streak with a goal at 12:15, assisted by Lynskey.
  • Loyola added their lone goal of the third quarter at 9:55 with a man-up goal from Lindley.

Quarter 4 | HC 5 Loyola 13

  • The Greyhounds scored 13 seconds into the final quarter from Spencer. Less than one minute later Jay Drapeau extended the Loyola lead to 10-3.
  • At 11:59, Matt Farrell scored his first with an impressive individual effort.
  • Lindley added two more goals for the Greyhounds at 10:07 and 9:08.
  • Drew Babiak scored his eighth of the season at 6:35 of the quarter, assisted by Farrell.

  • Five different Crusaders got on the board in the game.
