WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team was defeated by Bucknell, 12-4, in a Patriot League match-up at Kuzniewski Field.
Holy Cross (1-4, 0-2 Patriot League) scored the first goal of the game, but Bucknell (3-2, 1-1 Patriot League) scored seven goals to close the first quarter with a 7-1 lead. The second quarter saw less scoring, with each team just getting on the board once.
The Bison outscored the Crusaders, 2-1, in the final two quarters of the game. Holy Cross was unable to close the gap from the opening quarter and fell, 12-4.
Quarter 1 | HC 1 Bucknell 7
- Justin Lynskey scored his sixth goal of the 2018 season at 13:50, assisted by Drew Babiak.
- Bucknell's Tommy Sopko scored at 10:09 and Sean O'Brien tallied the go-ahead less than one minute later.
- O'Hara sent in back-to-back goals 36 seconds apart, pushing the game to 4-1.
- Will Sands, O'Hara, and Sopko each tallied goals to close the opening quarter, 7-1.
Quarter 2 | HC 2 Bucknell 8
- Bucknell's Reed Malas tallied the Bison's lone second quarter goal at 10:27.
- Holy Cross responded with a man-up goal from Drew Babiak at 5:01.
Quarter 3 | HC 3 Bucknell 10
- The Bison opened the third quarter scoring from Sopko at 14:26.
- Jack Cahill tallied his second goal of the season at 6:19. Rowan Hart assisted on the play.
- Bucknell struck a final time in the third quarter with 2:09 to play from O'Brien.
Quarter 4 | HC 4 Bucknell 12
- Bucknell scored to open and close the final quarter. Malas posted his second of the day at 12:00.
- The Crusaders added a fourth goal with 6:54 to play from Kevin Kodzis. Sean Mullaney added an assist.
- The Bison capped off the game with a goal from Sumner Brumbaugh at 1:44.
