WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior tight end Derek Mountain made a career-high five receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown, as the Holy Cross football team came from behind to defeat Fordham 17-13 at Fitton Field. The Crusaders improve to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in the Patriot League with the win, while the Rams fall to 1-9 on the season and 1-4 in the conference.

Fordham opened the scoring at the 9:40-mark of the first quarter on a 58-yard touchdown pass from Tim DeMorat to Isaiah Searight. The Rams increased their lead to 10-0 on the final play of the first half, when Andrew Mevis kicked a 54-yard field goal.

The Crusaders put their first point on the board midway through the third quarter when senior quarterback Geoff Wade threw a 23-yard scoring strike to Mountain. Holy Cross then took the lead later in the quarter on a five-yard touchdown pass from Wade to senior wide receiver Martin Dorsey.

In the fourth quarter, freshman placekicker Derek Ng booted a 37-yard field goal into the wind to put the Crusaders up 17-10. Fordham would add a 34-yard Mevis field goal with 2:15 left to play, and would get the ball back one last time trailing by four. But on the final play of the game, DeMorat's pass into the end zone fell incomplete and Holy Cross held on for the victory.

Senior linebacker Ryan Brady finished the game with 11 tackles and two fumble recoveries, while sophomore defensive back Joe Lang totaled 12 tackles.

Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 17, when it travels to Georgetown for a 12:30 p.m. game.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The Crusaders' 221 yards of total offense were their fewest in a victory since a 13-10 win over Lehigh on Oct. 8, 2005 (188 yards).
• Holy Cross limited Fordham to just 22 rushing yards on the afternoon.
• Dorsey's touchdown reception was his sixth of the season, which leads the Patriot League.
• Wade now has 15 touchdown passes on the season, the most in the Patriot League.
