EASTON, Pa. – Sophomore Lauren Manis posted 27 points as the Holy Cross women's basketball team earned a 69-56 victory over Lafayette on Saturday afternoon.

Manis led Holy Cross (10-11, 5-5) with a game-high 27 points while adding nine rebounds, four blocks and three steals. She also shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Senior Infiniti Thomas-Waheed also turned in another strong performance with 19 points, five steals and three assists. Senior Tricia Byrne finished the game with nine points and four rebounds. Lafayette (8-12, 4-6) was led by Natalie Kucowski, who earned a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds. Olivia Martino also scored in double figures, adding 10 points while shooting 2-for-4 from behind the arc.

The Crusaders shot 44.2% (23-52) from the field while holding the Leopards to 30.9% (17-55). From three-point range, Lafayette hit 41.2% (7-17) of their shots as Holy Cross hit 38.1% (8-21). The Leopards shot 83.3% (15-18) from the free throw line, while the Crusaders hit 75.0% (15-20) of their attempts.

WOMAN OF THE MATCH PRESENTED BY THE UNITED STATES MARINES

  • Following the game, Manis was selected as the Woman of the Match presented the United States Marines.
  • She tallied 27 points with nine rebounds, four blocks and three steals while shooting 10-for-10 from the free throw line.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Holy Cross outplayed the Leopards in the first quarter, using an 11-0 run to help carry a 23-10 advantage into the second.
  • Lafayette responded in the next quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 19-8 and ending the half with a 15-0 run that shrunk Holy Cross' lead to two points.
  • The Crusaders posted a 10-0 run in the third quarter to extend its lead, and outscored the Leopards 29-13 to carry a 60-42 lead into the final quarter.
  • Lafayette would outscore Holy Cross 14-9 in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the Crusaders' lead.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Manis and Thomas-Waheed combined for 46 points, counting for 66.7% of the Crusaders' offense.
  • Holy Cross dominated in the paint, posting 24 points while holding the Leopards to 10.
  • Manis tallied 20 or more points for the eighth time this season, and was perfect from the free throw line for the ninth time this season.
