BOSTON, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Boston University in a tough Patriot League battle. Sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Cashion recorded a career-high 14 saves against the Terriers.

Boston University scored in the 13th minute off a header by Christina Wakefield to make the score 1-0. The Terriers tallied 11 shots total with six shots on goal in the first 45 minutes.   

In the second half, the Terriers earned a free kick from 25 yards out. Cashion had two back-to-back saves off of the driven ball into the box and a second chance rebound to keep the Boston University lead at 1-0. The Terriers continued the pressure throughout the second half outshooting the Crusaders 16-2.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Cashion's 14 saves set a new career-high, topping her previous best of 12 set against Richmond on Sept. 2, 2016.

THE TURNPIKE TROPHY

• This was the first matchup in the 2017-2018 Turnpike Trophy rivalry series between Holy Cross and Boston University.
• The series awards points for all head-to-head victories in both the regular season and postseason, with the Turnpike Trophy going to the school which accumulates the most points at the end of the academic year.
• Christina Wakefield of Boston University was named the MVP of Wednesday night's game.
