• The Lead: Junior Zoe Matherne wrapped up the 2016-2017 season by competing in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Championship East Preliminary Round, held at the UK Outdoor Track and Field Complex in Lexington, Ky.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Matherne placed 44th overall in the 800-meter run, while finishing seventh in her heat.
• She ran a time of 2:12.66 in the event, which consisted of six preliminary heats.
• Hanna Green of Virginia Tech had the fastest time in any of the heats, finishing in 2:05.66.
• The top three individuals in each heat and the next six fastest times overall advanced to the quarterfinals of the 800-meter run, which will take place on Friday night.
