The Lead: Matt Rees had three goals for the Midshipmen as the Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Navy, 11-4, on Sunday in Patriot League action. Senior Jon Vogel led the Crusaders with two goals and an assist for three points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Crusaders took a 1-0 lead with 13:10 left in the first quarter when Vogel found the back of the net off an assist from senior Sean Kirkpatrick on a man-up goal.
• The Midshipmen then went on 7-0 streak, including two goals by Chris Hill, to end the first half at 7-1.
• Navy opened up the second half with a goal by Rees to put the Mids up 8-1.
• Holy Cross quickly responded with two straight goals from Kirkpatrick, off an assist from Vogel, and senior Jack Ortlieb off an assist from freshman Sean Mullaney.
• Navy started the fourth quarter with three straight goals, including two straight from Rees.
• Vogel netted his second goal of the game with 2:39 left in the fourth quarter for an 11-4 final score.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Freshman goalkeeper Jonathan Tesoro posted 13 saves, while Navy goalkeeper Ryan Kern posted six for the win and Nick Ramsey secured one.
• Navy totaled 30 shots, while Holy Cross took 29.
• The Midshipmen picked up 33 ground balls, while the Crusaders tallied 21.
• Navy won 16 face-offs, while Holy Cross secured three.
• The Crusaders went 1-1 on extra-man opportunities, while the Midshipmen went 0-1.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

• Kirkpatrick now leads the team with 24 points.

• The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, April 8, when they travel to Patriot League opponent Lafayette at 1:00 p.m.
