The Holy Cross baseball team is set to face Yale in a four-game series this weekend at Satow Stadium in New York, N.Y.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSADERS:

  • The Crusaders enter the weekend with a 4-11 overall record.
  • Holy Cross is coming off a 15-5 victory over UMass on Tuesday night, in which the Crusaders combined for five home runs. To read the recap, click here.
  • Junior Anthony Critelli was named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week after batting 4-for-10 in the doubleheader against Wagner and securing the win in game one with a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth. To read the press release, click here.
  • Holy Cross was selected first in this year's Patriot League Preseason Poll, as voted on by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors. To read the press release, click here.
  • Freshman Austin Masel currently ranks first on the team with a .365 batting average on the season and 10 runs scored. He also leads the Crusaders with nine multiple-hit games on the year.
  • Junior Cam O'Neill has also had a strong start to the season, leading holy Cross with 13 RBIs and three home runs while ranking second with eight runs scored.
  • Senior George Capen is currently 3-0 on the year with seven appearances on the mound. He holds an ERA of 1.59 through 17.0 innings pitched and ranks second on the Crusaders with 13 strikeouts.
  • The Crusaders return 24 players from last year's roster, and welcome nine freshmen to the squad.
  • Head coach Greg DiCenzo enters his 10th season with the program.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:

  • Yale is currently 5-9 on the year, having most recently gone 2-2 in a four-game series at Wofford this past weekend.
  • Tim DeGraw has been one of the top offensive players for Yale so far this season, as he holds a .317 batting average with 13 RBIs and a team-leading 14 runs scored.
  • Eric Brodkowitz holds an ERA of 3.72 through 19.1 innings pitched in three starts for the Bulldogs. He is currently 0-1 and ranks second on the team with 21 strikeouts.
  • Last season, Yale went 19-28-1 with an 11-9 record in Ivy League play. They were eliminated by Princeton in the Ivy League Championship series.
  • Head coach John Stuper is in his 25th season with the Bulldogs.
