NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale quarterback Kurt Rawlings hit on 27 of 39 passes for 316 yards and two touchdowns, as the Bulldogs posted a 32-0 victory over the Holy Cross football team at the Yale Bowl. The Crusaders fall to 2-5 on the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 4-1 overall.
Yale began the scoring with a 39-yard field goal by Alex Galland on their opening drive of the game. The Bulldogs then used a five-yard scoring strike from Rawlings to Michael Siragusa and a 21-yard Zane Dudek touchdown run to make the score 17-0 midway through the second quarter.
In the final two minutes before halftime, Yale added a safety and a 33-yard touchdown pass from Rawlings to Siragusa to go in front 25-0 at the break. The Bulldogs then concluded the scoring with a 22-yard scoring run by Dudek in the third quarter.
WEEKLY AWARDS:
- Following the game, junior linebacker Ryan Brady was selected as the Man of the Match presented by the United States Marines.
- Brady finished the afternoon with a game-high nine total tackles
- Senior defensive end Phil Zobrest earned the SERVPRO of South Worcester In the Trenches Lineman of the Game award.
- Zobrest totaled four tackles on the afternoon.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Yale finished with 452 yards of total offense on the day, while Holy Cross managed just 143 total yards.
- The Bulldogs also owned a 23-8 advantage in first downs, and held the ball for 37:37.
- Senior Will McGrail punted 10 times for 377 yards on the afternoon.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The Crusaders were shut out for the first time since falling to Harvard 35-0 on Sept. 18, 2004, snapping a streak of 149 consecutive games in which they scored.
- McGrail's 377 punting yards were the fourth-most ever by a Holy Cross player in a single game.
