Jenna Scanlon Wins Daniel Allen Sportsmanship Award

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior defender Jenna Scanlon, a member of the women's soccer team, has been selected as the recipient of the Daniel Allen Sportsmanship Award. The award was presented at the 61st annual Holy Cross Varsity Club dinner, held at the Hogan Campus Center on Saturday, May 7.

The Allen Award was established in 2005, and is presented to the Holy Cross varsity athlete who best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship that coach Allen exhibited throughout his life.

Scanlon earned a spot on the team as a walk-on during her freshman year, and was continuously moved around through different positions without complaint. By her senior year, she earned a starting spot and was named a team captain for her great work ethic and her ability make everyone feel welcome and included.

A three-time selection to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, Scanlon finished her career with one goal and five assists in 61 games played. Off the field, she served as the team's liaison with the Team Impact program, and also volunteered with Working for Worcester, HC Goes Unified, Dr. Interns, Cures for Kids, Special Olympics and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Massachusetts.
