WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward Matt Vidal, a member of the men's ice hockey team, received the John P. Cooney Memorial Award, which is presented to a senior letterwinner who has performed beyond all expectations with courage, loyalty and dedication. The award was presented at the 61st annual Holy Cross Varsity Club dinner, held at the Hogan Campus Center on Saturday, May 7.
A two-year team captain, Vidal totaled 17 points on three goals and 14 assists during his senior year. He finished his career with 60 points on 14 goals and 46 assists in 136 games played, and received the Derek Hines Unsung Hero Award from the Hockey Commissioners Association for his exemplary sportsmanship, competitiveness and work ethic.
Off the ice, Vidal served as the president of Power Play Points for Pink for the last three years, helping to raise over $50,000 for Pink Revolution. In addition, he has received Academic All-Atlantic Hockey honors, and was inducted into Phi Sigma Tau (an international philosophy honor society).
