The Lead: Junior Emily Krisanda (Oak Hill, Va.) went 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of runs scored as the Crusaders fell to Bryant, 6-5, in their final home game of the 2016 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, as freshman Taylor Wahler (Inman, S.C.) hit a triple to center field and scored on a wild pitch.
- Holy Cross added another run in the fourth inning, as sophomore Taylor Moss (Howard Beach, N.Y.) hit an RBI single to left field to score Krisanda from second base.
- Bryant responded with a strong fifth inning, notching five runs on three hits to give them a 5-2 lead.
- The Crusaders responded in the bottom of the inning, adding three runs to tie the game up 5-5. Sophomore Mandy McCarthy (Pearl River, N.Y.) hit a hard single off the first baseman to bring home two runners, and Krisanda reached home plate following a throwing error.
- The Bulldogs would regain the lead in the seventh inning with an RBI single.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Holy Cross outhit the Bulldogs 10-7.
- The Crusaders left eight runners on base, while Bryant left six.
- Senior Gennifer Durham (Abbeville, S.C.) took the loss after allowing one run on four hits in six innings pitched.
- Brandi Burgin earned the win after allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits in 2.1 innings pitched.
- McCarthy led the Crusaders with two runs batted in.
